PostSubject: Davy evicted from ‘safe house’   Fri Aug 10, 2012 12:00 pm

RICHARD LORD

“They want to bury me!”

These were the words of UNC activist Juliet Davy who sat on a bench on the Augustus Williams playground in Woodbrook yesterday, hours after she was reportedly evicted from a so-called safe house.

“They have persecuted me. They have tried me and now they want to bury me,” Davy said as tears flowed from her eyes.

“We have no meals and no toilet facilities here,” she added.

A source close to Davy said she was evicted because the outstanding rent to her apartment at the safe house was not paid by authorities.

Davy had been placed in protective custody after last month’s attempt on her life by an unknown gunman who fired several shots at her home in Beetham Gardens.

Davy had speculated that the attack may have been made because of critical comments she made on a radio talk show about the proposed construction of a wall in the area.

Clad in a pair of jeans and black T-shirt, Davy and her two children were seated on the bench from shortly after nine yesterday morning.

She said she was fearful for her safety but was not prepared to return to Beetham because some in the area had labelled her as a police informant.

In tears, Davy said her younger son had not been to school for three weeks.
